PostSubject: IFCA Newsletter #97   Wed Oct 21, 2009 11:06 am

Greetings Forza fans everywhere!

After a long layoff the IFCA Newsletter has finally returned! In my absence we have been kept up to date on series promotion thanks to Chilledheat’s webmaster magic, and yes, we do need to get back in the groove with all the details small and large surrounding FM3 and the 2010 IFCA season!

But first, let us get up to speed in the 2009 Season which isn’t quite over yet. Nice pat on the back to the IFCA members in general for helping to break the 1,000 member barrier! We know that it is primarily your word of mouth that promotes the IFCA, and we thank you for it

A special welcome back to Mr. FWC himself, VVV Eries, who has been doing what he can from the confines of the high speed internet void that is South Africa

We also congratulate the latest 2009 IFCA series champions as follows:

Endurance Series 8
Team Penske Racing
#111 iCam v1
#4 VVV GTDon

Formula One Series 3
#892 CCR DangerFIN

JGTC Series 8
#430 F4H Nikrox

SpecRacing Series 7
#1 TRC Smokinu

Make no mistake, with the strong possible exception of GTDon these are seriously fast Forza champions, highly ranked on the IFCA world rankings list, with multiple titles and championships in and out of the IFCA. Winning any IFCA series event is a major feat. You not only have to be fast, consistent, and dedicated; you need a little luck on the way to the checkers too. Again great performances everyone, well done!

Over in the gruelingly long NASCAR format IFCA Stock Car Series 5, there are just five races left in the Chase for the Cup, and #518 BOGAF has a firm 61 point lead over #428 GLR1FastRedneck. Anything could still happen, but just like his real NASCAR counterpart, Jimmie Johnson, who has a 90 point lead over legend Mark Martin, most are thinking it’s a forgone conclusion, Johnson will win yet another NASCAR championship if all goes well

This brings us to the 2009 IFCA Season Championship Standings! As expected, last years defending champion and holder of the #1 plate, TRC Smokinu is in the Top 8 and will race for the championship. The great 8 is yet to be fully determined until the Stock Car series is done, but there will be some new faces in the mix for this year’s finale. Go here to see the list

In terms of club dominance, something we don’t talk enough about, VVV is a powerhouse here at the IFCA, and no, it’s not because of their numerous members who call the IFCA site their second home, it’s because they are very good at racing. With less drivers than their nearest 2 club rivals (TRC and GLR) they have managed a remarkable 5,495 point lead over second place TRC. It doesn’t mean all that much, but you can be sure people are taking note of it, especially the hyper-competitive, "TimeRacingClub"

VVV
12,415 (22 members)

TRC
6,920 (27 members)

GLR
5,620 (29 members)

Honorable mention has to go out to club EZT Motorsport who is threatening 3rd place with half as many members! Well done!

Moving on to all things Forza Motorsport 3 and the 2010 IFCA Season, yours truly has been involved in helping put together the, Official Forza 3 Game Guide by Prima Games. It was exhausting but rewarding work with great intentions I must say, and although I haven’t seen the final cut, some of what I have seen looks great and oozes with a more sophisticated look equaling the more advanced urbane feel of the game itself. Will it be perfect, or complete? Probably no more than the game is, to be honest, but like the game, still a very worthy buy!

Yes, no doubt there were many things left on the cutting floor by the editors and respondents in charge I assure you. This is just a sad fact of the publishing business; even so, those detailed morsels, many of which were supplied by the pro drivers of the Forza community will be resurrected at a later date

The FM3 demo has been a huge success with amazingly fast times by all the usual suspects, and even a few new people, or people that didn’t play much FM2. The demo has been praised by everyone but tools and trolls, and is a true pleasure to drive

As for FM3 proper, having had some pre-release time with the game, it is truly enjoyable, and deep. And even though I’m more of a sim-racer at heart, all the ancillary features and modes will be a welcome preoccupation for many months to come. There can be no debate, this is not just the very best racing game you can buy, it’s the best Xbox360 game you can buy

Many of you may have heard that there will be some changes for the 2010 Season here at the IFCA. Both the, Endurance Series and the Formula One Series are being retired as of this year. No single reason for this, but in common with both is organizer time. It takes a lot to stay on top of a series and organize it from start to finish. It takes dedication, and commitment to do it justice, and until you’ve done one, you probably can’t appreciate it fully. Many thanks to the organizers like VVV Jason M, VVV Lippakorv, VVV Koenigsegg, VVV Nonni D, VVV GTDon, and SP33D RAC3R 28x, for doing all the work it takes to put on a good series!

In 2010, we are in the proposal process of possibly adding 1 more sanctioned series event to replace the two lost. If you have a special interest, feel free to voice your opinion here. Several ideas are on the table, such as bringing back the FWC series, an Australian V8 Supercar series, and an ALMS series

Special promotions that are likely to occur throughout 2010 include, “Pizza Payouts!” That’s right! Win 3 consecutive sanctioned races in a row, in any given IFCA series, and a large pepperoni pizza from “Domino’s” will be delivered to your house or dorm! For FREE!. Maybe! Is to be decided....

That’s all I have for right now, and just as a reminder if you are new to the IFCA, all 2010 sanctioned events will be scheduled for no earlier than mid January 2010. The actual calendar of events will be posted in December '09 some time

Stay tuned and ready to race,
IFCA Founder

Well done Don.

Thanks for mentioning me. (But you forgot VVV Jason M, he did most of the paints and started the F1 Series with Nonni)

Don, love your newsletters! Very well written!! Also enjoy the pics of the various muscle cars you have included in the newsletter!

Good job to IFCA "heads of state," shall we say. Also, a big congrats to all the 2009 Champions as well as the soon-to-be Stock Car Series Champion! Finally, pats on the back to all the race organizers, moderators, race officials, and especially the competitors! Well done, one and all!!!
