Actually it is considered to be one of the fastest turns in the world and has killed several people. People tend to go all the way off and into the trees well beyond the safety sand. Superbikes are approaching 200mph as they start to lean the bike over going through turn 1. It's hair raising even by pro standards. lol

I'd like to say that Indiana really sucks, but the truth is, it doesn't. The people are very nice here, very easy going. But it sucks being away from home. I'm having Forza withdraw!

Re: GTDon's Blog III

It's been awhile since I last stood up on my soap box around here, but enough is enough! It's about time someone started to get a little excited about league racing in 2013.

Seems to me this season has the real potential to be the most intense, fun, and exciting in a long, long time. No, not because there are a modest $300.00 up for grabs, but because this will be the first year to crown an overall road racing world champion from out of five or so different Forza leagues. Add to the mix that we do in fact have a defending champion (F4H Diablo), and the competition is already starting to ramp up. --No easy win for the Champ this year.

Some will always say, "what makes you world champion, you haven't raced everyone who's fast in the Forza world!" But I'd say ours is at least as much if not more of a world championship than say, American football or baseball "world champions." Of course the Americans would rightly say any country of the world is welcome to come join the NFL and compete for a Super Bowl World Championship as long as they stay within the rules. But then certain peoples of the world would be in really bad shape size wise. But that isn't really the point.

The point is the IFCA World Championship is international, and is competed by not one or two leagues, but by many leagues from around the world. This is the closest anyone in Forza will come to a road racing world champion these days. Our ratings program will be able to carry on its duties even when we switch to FM5. This means that there will be continuity between game versions for the first time too. This means that you can look forward to when the new game comes out, and know that your current effort which creates your international rating, will carry over to the new game.

So cheer up out there, you are about to have a lot of fun, and make a little history.

R.I.P. Dan Weldon

Re: GTDon's Blog III

There appears to be an uneasy truce going on out there in Forza league land. It has caught most by surprise that GTDon has registered on the VM site. Many eyebrows have lifted, and heads turned, after hearing the news. You can feel the tension in the crowd like a small charge of static electricity building up to a possible sharp zap. How can this be, they ask? Was there some sort of peace talks behind the scenes?

The truth is there is a bigger picture to concern ourselves with in the future, than what happened in the past. There were no peace talks between the IFCA and VM. No friendly overtures to speak of. We just did it. From the IFCA perspective it’s all about the league community and its continued survival. We know that in order to have a whole and complete league community, bridges must be built and barriers broken. The calculation is that these lines of access between leagues are important for the health and wellbeing of the league community so that we may present a more coherent and unified approach.

Many have said that no single league can lead the way forward and we believe this to be true. At the same time, a single league can disrupt the way forward too, and we would prefer it not be the IFCA. Allowing greater and greater access between leagues promotes league growth. A lot of racers have said to me that they want a more free exchange between leagues, and more freedom to bounce around from league event to league event without the drama or criticism.

To help unify the leagues, and promote more diverse participation throughout the league community, we invented the IFCA Ratings program. We needed a method or tool that could work across all leagues and formats and establish a international ranking order by rating league drivers around the Forza world. We needed some sort of “standard” or homologation to bring everyone together, without which there would continue to be small pockets of racers disconnected to each other all over the place. Now a driver can go to any of the participating leagues with the limited time he has, and know that his efforts will not be for nothing even if he doesn’t do an entire season here or there. Whether he/she races at the IFCA, or SimRacers, or FSCS, or DMR, or FMUK, they will have their races rated, and will be ranked internationally for their troubles. We hope that VM can be added to the mix as the avenues of communication and competition open up.

With my registration at the VM site complete, the schism of the past can now remain in the past. Drivers from the IFCA and from VM can travel back and forth to compete without any pressure not to compete, because of past grievances. Chilledheat and Hellbringer have made no concessions, or agreements with me, and are not being asked to make any extraordinary exceptions or compromises. They continue to independently operate VM with the same fervor and goals their motto expresses, “Passion, Excellence, Style, and Grace.”

At the IFCA, we have lifted any restrictions or bans on all those VM members who may have been restricted or banned in the past. If you were such a person and find your account still not active, give me a shout and I’ll open it up for you.

Welcome to the new era in Forza league racing. An era where old stigma’s no longer apply, and new friendly competition thrives. Welcome to the 2013 season of Forza League Racing!

Piggy at the park

Post by GTDon2 on Sat Dec 01, 2012 2:08 pm

As a few of you know from hearing me yell at my dog while on XBL, I have a year old American Bulldog whose name is "Piggy."

After taking Piggy to the dog park to run around with a large group of dogs for the first time, it sort of dawned on me what kind of dog this really is. The breed is accurately described with a single word, "dominant." They (American Bullies) seem to have an incessant need to dominate, everything. It matters not what breed you are, or what infraction !!! you are, or what species you are, or what size you are, AB's are going to try to dominate you. It's just their nature. I think this is why handlers caution you to steer clear of placing two males together who don't know each other. A fight will certainly ensue if you do. It is what these dogs seem to do best.

As we (me and Piggy) approached the gate of the dog park, you could see the other dog owners already taking nervous notice. The muscular visage and fierce profile of the AB is immediately recognized by all as imposing, and fearful. He looks like a dog that works out with free weights. The first nervous inquiry comes from a dog owner of a diminutive Whippet, "is that a pit bull mix?" No, something much worse, an American Bulldog, I laughingly say.

Attempting to allow Piggy to calm down and get used to all the dogs before entering the park, we stayed on the outside of the gated area for a time. This only seemed to agitate Piggy all the more. So we went in. I unleashed him, (probably to the horror of the other dog lovers there) and Piggy immediately rushed over to the largest group of playing dogs, to, "enter the frey." You could see how it wasn't about play, and it wasn't about fighting, it was about pure excitement and domination for Piggy. As his name sake suggests, he was the "bully" of the park. Pushing, coursing, mounting, and generally not behaving like all the other dogs who were obviously there to play, and run around chasing balls. It was sort of sad to see actually, because Piggy was the misfit of the group. To him, all the other dogs were akin to canine prey , and not really his equal in his mind. He was utterly disrespectful equally to all, big or small.

I repeatedly had to rescue other dogs from Piggy's grasp. I thought he might get tired after awhile and begin to calm down, but instead he only got more excited and belligerent. The other dog owners began to thin out and even become annoyed with the disruption Piggy was causing. They were a mixed lot of mostly Golden Retrievers and small Labs. I would have preferred larger dogs to be there, but then again, I'm not sure it would have mattered to Piggy.

After only about 30min, it was time for us to leave, Piggy was just wearing out his welcome. As a parting insult to the park, dog owners and remaining dogs, Piggy left a massive poop for all to see.
