Pirelli World Challenge

Post by AAR GTDon on Fri May 02, 2014 4:14 pm

I've come up with a format that incorporates the FSCS idea of adding or subtracting PI after each race to equalize the drivers.  Like the real series there will be at least 2 classes GT and GTS running at the same time.  There will be 9 cars to pick from in each class, i.e. cars that are found in the real series.  There will be 7 races.  A standing start just like the real series.  The builds will be semi-specific to include full race tires and race roll cage.

After each race the top 3 podium finishers and the bottom 3 finishers will receive automatic PI adjustments (as opposed to the lengthy calculated and subjective method of FSCS)  1st place will get a 7 PI deduction, 2nd place a 6 PI deduction, and 3rd place a 4 PI deduction.  While last place will get a 10 PI addition, and second to last will get a 7 PI addition, and third to last will get a 5 PI increase.

If my calculations are right this will tend to move everyone towards a more equal middle making everyone much closer in performance after each race.  Unlike the FSCS system which was not designed to bring equality to the cars and drivers, but to force a driver over time to perform better, this system intends to immediately equalize the cars and drivers after each race.

Not all scenarios have been worked out as far as how one might try to "game" this system, but in practice runs on paper it looks difficult.  By the numbers if you intend to only finish 4th in every race and avoid a deduction you will likely miss winning the championship by 2-3 points placing you in 3rd place at best.  On the other hand if you are fast, and can stay fast even after some deductions in PI, your chances of winning the series is still better than if you finished 4th every round.

To help complicate those who might try to figure out a way to game the system, a fastest lap bonus of 1 point will be used. Scoring will be 1 point per position.  There will be no restarts, limited damage, any assists, 50 lap races, with 1 mandatory pit before lap 25.

Qualifying will be before the race starts, 5laps.  If there are ties in series points at the end of the season, your FLR rating will be used to break the ties, as this will be a rated series.

Likely day to race will be Sunday evenings.

What about Nein Shiza's Pirelli World Challenge? I don't want to look like we're deliberately copying something of their's, especially since they sent their results to FLR at one time.

Other than that, as long as the FSCS is suspended, it's fine.

I really don't care what NSA is doing. Lol This is not at all like theirs.

I'm not concerned if every league has a PWC series, doesn't mean the IFCA can't also have one of their own too.

come to think of it, I could name it something totally different too, like the IFCA PWC, or the IFCA PI Challenge, etc.
