The 1:47 Club

Post by GTDon2 on Sun Dec 09, 2018 2:56 pm

Hey guys, I know some of you have been challenged to figure out which car is best for you at Daytona in spite of all the statistical data we provide about the cars.  So, I went through all the cars that I thought would be best at Daytona fine-tuned them, and see if they could break the 1:48.000 barrier and become part of what I call the, "1:47 Club."

Yes, I know, I cheat and use fairy dust on my cars to get them to run, especially my MOPARs, I know, but, this series is about sharing the "fairy dust" with the little guy.  We do all that we can to get everyone up to speed and maximize their skill.  The following (1900 level) GS cars are the only cars ever observed to run into the 1:47s.  That's right, there are 10!  You can only do worse by not picking one of these 10 cars.  A slow lap in a "1:47 Club" car is likely to be a fast lap in any other car is my point.  Also, every "1:47 Club" car has its tune shared just as I drove it to get into the 1:47s.  File name is "1900"

The 1:47 Club

2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392
2009 Pontiac G8
2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat
2015 Ford Mustang GT
2016 Cadillac CTS-V
2013 SRT Viper GTS
2011 Mercedes SLS AMG
1997 Mazda RX-7
2014 Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4
1997 Lamborghini Diablo SV
2014 BMW M4

Hope this helps!

I would suggest a "2:00 Club" for the ST class as well. I have achieved high 2:00 lap times with at least 3 of the 7 ST cars I put a tune together for. The rest achieved mid to high 2:01's before I either gave up or got bored lol. That's with MY testing though, everyone has a different pace.

There are now 11 cars observed to do 1:47s as recent testing has shown in the 2015 Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept, and a little tuning. Again, all the Daytona tunes are shared, just turn the key and drive.

Consider it done!  There are 12 cars that can do sub 2:01.000s, that's half of the cars offered!  I will post them soon, and the tunes have been fine tuned for Daytona and shared for everyone.

I think we should conduct a "mock" race this Saturday after a few practice sessions to properly get the new guys up to speed and get them used to the relay formula. I'm worried we might be losing their interest by just practicing a bunch of 4 lap sessions, some of them have still not put down an official qualifying time after a few Saturday's with us. Let's get them excited about the uniqueness of the IFCA Relay Challenge.

If you have a little free time on Saturday 6:00 EST we will be running a mock Daytona race for those who want to see how this works and for the new guys to get acclimated to the format.  This will be an unrated practice race.

Don't worry about not having a partner, we always have a bunch of drivers who don't have a ready-made teammate that we can pair you up with.  Expect an invite at that time, we hope to run as a multi-class as intended.

All 75 cars from both classes as well as which cars run best at Daytona are fully tuned and shared for the taking.  In the upper "GS" class of S-Class cars we have identified 11 cars that are the best at Daytona, and 12 cars in the lower "ST" class using low A-Class and high B-Class cars.
