Congrats to TheyCallMeBubz, after back to back wins here and at EZT he has reached into the 2000s Expert level rating with a 2001.681!  Of course this does mean that he will have to pick the 2000 level build for his BMW M4. lol

No!  You get out there and get someone to help you out!  You have a lot of guys you know who race who can stand in for you and your team 1 time.  You're not asking for a full season commitment Tom, just asking for a one-time fill-in race is all.  Check with anyone at TORA.

I will send him what car we will use and he probably can download your tune.

Sebring recap

Post by GTDon2 on Sat Sep 15, 2018 10:24 pm

Well boys, another amazing race I have to say.  It had all the thrills and spills of a real race, again!

Just like some real races, the attrition rate was very high due to lag outs and miscommunication.  But this only added to the high drama of the finish with 2 teams fighting it out to the end.  The season points leading BMW M4 team of SPEEDYJAB and Bubz were hanging in there, and had their chances for the back to back win but faltered in the last 2 laps, allowing Kevin and new guy LeBritinadian to take the victory in their Aston Martin Vantage.

Pole setting team MOPAR or NOCAR lost GTDon due to modem failure on lap 3 ending their day.  They weren't the only ones who had a break down.  There was also some contact that has to be reviewed in replay before we make the final results official.

Me and Incognito watched the rest of the race from SPEEDYJABS party and it was thrilling the whole time!  Really fun to watch the pressure build and mistake made.  Really good racing craft too I have to say.

More to follow...

Disaster again for the second week.
Neo lagged out last week and this week, my game froze on the 1st lap and I had to drop out.

After don loaded a new Lobby for the race, my mike quit working. lol!

Can someone share the replay on Sebring?

And I quit this, sorry Nova but I don't agreed of the lack of communications, as I saw 3 racers quit or lag out I tell my mate to quit the race so we can give the opportunity to re-start the race once again.

I truly understand the feeling Lanrell. We do this in part for the fun of it and racing with good people like you.

The unwritten "rule" here or just about anywhere is to keep racing until it is obvious the race has been stopped.

Generally, if everyone starts to drop out on the same lap that's a good indication the race is being restarted. But this didn't happen.

We accept lag outs as equivalent to mechanical failures here precisely because we don't have communication.  It's easy to tell everyone to restart on lap 1 because someone lagged out and restart the race for them with mics on.  But this format is more realistic than that.

What real race do they restart for a car that can not start its engine, or the engine dies during the first lap?  F1? NASCAR? Indy Car? Nope, none of them do this.  It's just racing and bad luck is all.  No one is going to restart the entire race because your engine died on lap 1 in effect.

So, now that you know how we handle this particular situation please stay on with the series Lanrell. No team is left with zero points because of a lag out either.  You will get the finishing points in the order of your lag out.  In this way all teams can stay in touch with the points leaders even if they have a lag out.  So, even though bad luck comes our way it doesn't ruin your season chances to win.

Think about it, there are no other series that offers you a more fair chance to win or compete.  All the cars were heavily tested and tune supported.  Each week we pick a car to highlight and help tune and give tips to driving it. Lap times are not secret. With our tire BoP if you are a little faster we put you in a little slower car.  If you are a little slower we put you in a faster car.  All other series do not do this.  You are either in the same exact car as the fastest drivers, or in a car that has no support and isn't well tested for equality, and no one knows what a good lap time is.  In both cases, you are at a distinct disadvantage to the faster drivers and those who have secret tunes, and will be finishing well to the back no question about it.  Here there are no secret tunes, and you are allowed better tires if your skill level is not up to par, and you know what a good lap is.

penalties

Post by GTDon2 on Sun Sep 16, 2018 7:05 pm

After reviewing the replay I am forced to issue some warnings and penalties.  I don't like to do this but not doing it is worse for the series and reputation of the IFCA.

Firstly, everyone or almost everyone was infringing on the track limits at Sebring.  I didn't get a chance to warn everyone to avoid doing this before the race but allow me to say it here.  Please try to stay within the track limits.  If I see someone ignoring the track limits repeatedly I will issue warnings.

Our penalty system is cumulative, meaning that they add up over the season.  It is a 4 strikes and you are out system.  First is a warning which doesn't take points or position, second is a 1 point penalty, third is a 1 position loss, and fourth is disqualification from the series.  These don't have to come in sequence.  You can get disqualified without any prior warnings or penalties if you are that bad.  So, if you have 2 warnings, and a point penalty, you are on the edge, 1 more violation and you face disqualification.  If you have 2 point penalties and a position penalty, your next stop is disqualification.  Maybe you have 3 warnings, well, anything more will seal your fate.  So, 3 of anything is your limit, the 4th is always disqualification.

I'm issuing a point deduction to yankeesfanfp1 for severe contact resulting in knocking TheyCallMeBubz off the track and losing positions.  I would be issuing a lost position penalty but yankee is new and was not aware of what to do in his situation.  At IFCA events we have always had the rule that if you take someone out you must wait for them to recover their position in front of you.  If you wait for the person you smashed off the track no penalty other than a warning will be issued.  We do this to keep things fair so that no one can smash people off the track and leave the scene of the accident with a better position as happens in every other league.

I'm issuing a warning to TheyCallMeBubz for rough driving and contact with Midnite Rider.

I'm issuing a warning to LongColePole for having an incorrect build for his 1800 level car.  (his car was under built as a S789 should have been S795)

The penalty should be on Nova and not Yankees fan for the punt on Bubz in the hairpin.

I am Okay with a warning for some Contact with Rider, but for any SERIOUS contact that was made between him & I during Sebring-I made sure to "check-up" and make sure the situation was sorted. And its not like Him or I lost distance/time from said incident, Maybe a few tenths surely but nothing dramatic. Also, it's not like I full-blown made him spin out... We're both racing hard & pushing to our skill's peak and Yes, Racing incidents will happen. At the end of the day, racing is racing, and I know surely that we all had fun! Laughing

I appreciate your 'stand up' position. There really isn't anything bad about having or getting a penalty because this too believe it or not is part of the fun. As long as you don't take it personally that is.

So i hope everyone has this attitude that warnings and penalties just help to make things better and more interesting not to mention fair. How many times has it happened in other league event or series where no action is taken at all? Plenty. And it is annoying.

So thanks everyone.

Okay, well this was very difficult to figure out with all the lag outs and when they happened. I did the best I could to reconstruct the order and think I have it right.  However, if not, if I made an error the differences in the order would be virtually insignificant in terms of team points and/or ratings. Meaning that it probably wouldn't change anything with the numbers being so close.  For example, we have a 3 way tie for 3rd at this point.  And, only Bubz rating changed enough to slide him back down into the 1900 level, everyone else stays the same.

Hopefully next week there will be no lag outs and it won't be a nightmare to figure out.

Season points are posted as well
http://ifca.highforum.net/t6543-continental-tire-season-points

Team TSM and their BMW continue to lead followed by MOPAR OR NOCAR in 2nd, and a 3-way tie for third with MR SK RACING, No Speak English, and LOL RACING.

Pole bonus point went to MOPAR OR NOCAR Hellcat of GTDon2 with a 2:09.196

Fastest lap bonus point went to team "Can/AM" and JDM Kevin72 in his AM Vantage with a 2:09.395

Pretty good racing for the most part and highly entertaining to watch actually.  Someone should start streaming it.

Next week Homestead Roadcourse

Hey Guys! Thanks for a good race on Sebring and Daytona thus far and I look forward to more last lap showdowns throughout the season. I wanted to share a cool UDP tool that you may not know about and how to use it, it adds a shift light, tire info, etc to your phone so you can use it while you race. Here's a step by step.

1) go to the Android play store or Apple app store and download Sim Dashboard (free to download)
2) load Forza 7 on your xbox - go to options - HUD - scroll down to bottom & look for Data out, Data out IP address & Data out IP port.
3) open Sim Dashboard - create layout (you can select 3 widgets for free) - click on 3 lines in upper left screen & choose Forza 7.
4) click on 3 dots in upper right of Sim Dashboard app - click on Forza 7 UDP config - scroll down to get data info to put into Forza 7 game so your phone connects.
5) click on all the data points in Forza 7 in HUD settings mentioned above and add in the info from Sim Dashboard.

Personally I set mine right below my TV when I play Forza on controller and fashioned a bracket on my steering wheel for Project Cars 2. Hope that helps some of you, it is a cool tool to help immerse you more. Enjoy!
