Seasonal Penalty Box

Post by GTDon2 on Sun Oct 07, 2018 10:30 am

Our penalty system is cumulative, meaning that they add up over the season.  It is a 4 strikes and you are out system.  First is a warning which doesn't take points or position, second is a 1 point penalty, third is a 1 position loss, and fourth is disqualification from the series.  These don't have to come in sequence.  You can get disqualified without any prior warnings or penalties if you are that bad.  So, if you have 2 warnings, and a point penalty, you are on the edge, 1 more violation and you face disqualification.  If you have 2 point penalties and a position penalty, your next stop is disqualification.  Maybe you have 3 warnings, well, anything more will seal your fate.  So, 3 of anything is your limit, the 4th is always disqualification.

Poennaninova:  severe contact -1pt, warning for no fault contact and not waiting for Midnite Rider to recover (=2 strikes)

LongColePole:  incorrect build warning, warning for bump and run contact with FRB NWThumbs (=2 strikes)

TheyCallMeBubz: rough driving warning (=1 strike)

FRB NWThumbs: warning for bump and run contact in turn 1 with LongColePole (=1 strike)

chunkymonkey074: warning for unsafe re-entry onto the racing surface in turns 1-2. (=1 strike)

Midnite Rider: warning for not waiting for EZT Neo after no-fault contact knocking Neo off the track on the last turn. (=1 strike)

R2P Volcano: cutting the track warning (=1 strike)

SirKane2: warning for unsafe passing (=1 strike)

FRB Curve: warning for 'bump and run' (=1 strike)

The severe contact was for Nova and not Yakeesfan for contact on Bubz at Sebring

Oh yeah, that's right.  Let me correct that for the record.

I had no contact on my screen with Neo, his car was ghosting all race and I could not tell where his car was. Had I made contact I would have given him his spot back so I apologize to Neo but it was due to a game glitch, not me hitting him purposely. I lose the point but Tuen10 is to blame. Sorry, Neo.

No Problem Rider. It was just a warning. No point was lost.  I can only go by what the replay shows and even that isn't always accurate. Our penalty system isn't meant to punish as much as it is to remind people of what to do next time.

Here is the video, it actually appears as though Neo turned into me and you can see how he was ghosted by my view the entire race.

Yes, this is what i saw too. This is why i called it no fault contact. But, what i gave the warning for wasn't  for the contact it was for not waiting for Neo after the contact regardless of fault.

Got you, only reason I didn't was I felt no contact and thought I just screwed myself as usual.

I'll take the strike.

Wow, so Nova gets away with hitting me without using his breaks in the corner in the first lap? Wow. I will not be back, that is uncalled for and I might as well be in a public lobby. They get away with catastrophic damage and no penalty, I will not advertise for you and I am pulling my post on Forzamotorsport. I am also telling everyone I know that things are not done right here and you might as well be in a public lobby.

It sucks I thought penalties would be handed out. I got reprimanded for even less contact and now Nova thinks he can wreck anyone and not get punished. That is screwed up, to say the least. And here I was starting to enjoy things except Nova hitting me like that and hitting me on purpose in EVERY race. You have fun, I sure don't since I am treated like doodoo! I'll stick to public lobbies, at least there I EXPECT to be hit, unlike what I thought this series would be like. Boy was I wrong, wrong, wrong.

Not at all. Look Rider i like you, but if you have a problem you think needs to be addressed you need to bring it to me. Talk to me. Show me the replay. No one saved a replay, or some tried but it failed. So i have nothing to be aware of except some grumbling. I need more than this.

If you are here to exact justice and expect perfect verdicts you are missing the point. This isn't Judge Judy. This isn't an excersize in judicial application. This isn't about soothing hurt feelings or spending all our time complaining after every race. It's about racing with friends vs strangers and giving a generous amount of grace to our fellow drivers for mistakes. We all make mistakes. This is racing. Sh i t happens. It's racing! If something can be proved it will be adjudicated i asure.

replay ajudication

Post by GTDon2 on Wed Nov 21, 2018 6:49 pm

I guess I have to add to the rules that if you wish to file a protest you will need to present video evidence. (I sort of thought this was obvious)

When I do have a video to look at, I can still miss moments of contact or poor driving, so something can get past me if no one points something out.  I can't be everywhere all the time is my point, and, there is a lot of stuff to do after a race is over.  Most of you get that.

Most of you know that none of what I do is "automated"  it all has to be done by hand for the most part. The ratings/rankings, the driver points, manufacturer points, the race recap of course, not to mention the untold hours of testing, all done by hand.  In other words, so much time goes into this that it borders on being too much.  And if you don't know this, you will take it for granted, and lack the appreciation you should have for it being done.

The best attitude to have is one of participation in solutions rather than constantly complaining something isn't right.  Make a positive suggestion, don't just yell and scream.  Be a part of the solution and not the problem as my Mom would say.

Sonoma review

Post by GTDon2 on Sun Nov 25, 2018 7:07 am

Okay after finally getting a look at the replay, (thanks TomCat) and with added help and input from SPEEDYJAB who actually races in real life, the late verdict is in.  And once again I want to always emphasize that the best way to take any decision in the penalty box is with thanks and respect for the series even if it goes against you. Few decisions are ever perfect but we should all be glad that at least there is someone trying to make the hard choice after the facts.  You should be in good spirits even when you end up in the penalty box because it is a part of the whole racing experience without which there would be an incomplete experience.  With that said here's what we found:

Nova did indeed have contact with Rider resulting in Rider being pushed off the track, and Nova did not wait for Rider to recover his position.  This is the oldest rule at the IFCA and should never be broken. Normally this would be an automatic drop in position against Nova, but instead, he will receive a massive and rare 4 point penalty which is actually worse than losing a position because a position is equal to just 2 points.  The reason for this harsh verdict is that it was done in the final, and Nova was penalized for the same thing against the same driver back in the start of the season.  This second offense earns Nova 3 strikes as well to end the season.

As for Rider, it was discussed that perhaps this contact would not have happened if he had stayed on a particular racing line and not been so erratic swerving side to side through the turns.  And I agree.  I also agree that when behind a slower driver the faster driver must be extra cautious and not try to muscle his way past. The more skilled driver can afford to be more patient is my point.  You should treat a slower driver the same way you treat a slower car in the lower class and avoid contact.  Sonoma is particularly hard to do this because it is not a good passing track I understand.  Nevertheless, you faster guys have more car control and should know better.  Meanwhile you slower guys shouldn't try to drive over your heads either and make for an unsafe track position.

This officially concludes Season 1.
